The air fryer market is heading into 2026 with a paradox at its core: a healthy-looking 8.91% CAGR on paper, but a sharp, real-world correction underneath. The category grew from USD 1.26 bn in 2024 to USD 1.36 bn in 2025, and Pw Consulting's latest forecast projects expansion to USD 2.46 bn by 2032 — yet that headline growth masks weakening fundamentals that are already hitting major brands and China-based ODM clusters.
The biggest shock of the past 12 months has been a severe inventory glut. In November 2024, one major Shunde-based ODM reported that three large US retailers cancelled a combined 1.85 million units of 2025 orders. Channel inventory stretched past 14 weeks, dragging average capacity utilization at the Shunde and Zhongshan ODM clusters from 81% in Q4 2023 down to just 54% by Q4 2025. Public brand filings reflect the same pressure: Breville's air fryer ASP in Australia and the UK fell 9% YoY in H1 2026 while units grew only 3%; SharkNinja saw North America air fryer revenue drop 11% YoY in Q4 2025, with roughly USD 87 million in cancellations; Philips Domestic Appliances reported a 14% decline in European small-kitchen-appliance sales for FY2025.
Regional distribution is also tipping. In 2025, North America still led with USD 667.57 mn (49.1% share), followed by Europe at USD 410.99 mn (30.2%) and Asia-Pacific at USD 226.99 mn (16.7%). Going forward, Asia-Pacific is the region to watch: the report expects gradual share gains there, supported by deeper distribution and rising household appliance ownership, while North America is likely to protect its lead through continuous category mainstreaming and product refresh cycles. Within product types, digital air fryers already hold 59.8% of 2025 value (USD 813.64 mn), with manual models taking the remaining 40.2%.
Supply chain diversification has also proven harder than expected. China-origin imports into the US fell 23% in 2025, pushing brands to look at Vietnam and Mexico. Vietnamese assembly shipments grew 41% in 2025, but a Vietnamese assembler still faced 19 unplanned downtime days in Q3 2025 because of a shortage of Japanese thermal fuses. A Mexico near-shoring pilot line posted only 67% first-pass yield and cut lead times by just 11 days, leading several programs to scale back.
Compliance is now the second wave of cost pressure. The EU's PFAS restriction proposal cleared ECHA in October 2025 and starts phasing in from 2027, adding EUR 4.2–7.8 per unit for mid-range OEMs. In Q1 2026, California DTSC took action against three air fryer brands on PFAS-related labeling violations, with combined fines and remediation costs exceeding USD 2.4 million. Safety recalls are also re-shaping buyer caution — COSORI voluntarily recalled 268,000 units (model CAF-LI211) in the US in June 2025 due to overheating control boards, while Tower and Secura issued separate recalls for fire and burn risks across the UK, Ireland, and Canada. ITC investigation 337-TA-1421 (Philips vs several Chinese manufacturers) settled under confidentiality in January 2026.
The takeaway for the air fryer OEM ecosystem is clear: the next cycle will not be won by stacking more smart features, but by mastering supply-chain agility, surviving retailer pushback, and executing cost-effective environmental compliance. Brands that can clear excess channel inventory, absorb new compliance costs without breaking unit economics, and maintain dependable quality at scale are the ones that will convert today's correction into share gains through 2032.
