New research from the National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association (NFRA) confirms that the air fryer has crossed from trend to infrastructure: the appliance is now present in 71% of American households — nearly three in four homes — and has permanently changed both how Americans cook and what they expect from the foods they buy. The purchasing connection is direct and measurable. More than half of air fryer owners say the appliance has led them to buy more frozen foods, rising to 61% among core users, 67% among Millennials and 63% among Gen Z shoppers — precisely the demographics most likely to build long-term frozen-food habits around the air fryer. Yet a major executional gap remains: only 33% of shoppers say most products they buy include clear air fryer cooking directions, even though on-package air fryer instructions are cited by 45% of consumers as a top driver of increased appliance use, and two-thirds of owners say frozen and refrigerated products still lack air fryer directions. Digital engagement matters just as much — social media is the top recipe source for 72% of Gen Z and Millennial air fryer users, outranking packaging, recipe sites and word of mouth. Occasion coverage is another blind spot: core users over-index for breakfast (+13 points vs. average), lunch (+13) and after-school snacking (+10), while most frozen air fryer marketing still focuses on dinner. For appliance OEM/ODM manufacturers and their B2B buyers, the takeaway is clear — air fryer demand is now structurally embedded in US kitchens, and co-marketing assets such as on-pack compatibility symbols, reliable air-fryer cooking programs, and social-ready recipe content have become genuine differentiators that move units at retail. Brands that make air fryer results easy are earning loyalty; those that don't are creating openings for competitors.
