India's air fryer category is entering a breakout phase. First introduced by Philips in 2012 at a premium ₹14,000–15,000, the appliance stayed niche for years as cost-conscious consumers struggled with the "low-oil cooking" pitch. The post-pandemic shift toward healthier, home-based eating changed that. According to Kearney, India's air fryer market reached ₹600–700 crore in 2025 and is growing 14–16% annually—far outpacing the mature microwave segment, which grew under 7%. The category now draws more than 30 brands, from Philips, Pigeon, Havells, Prestige and Bosch to digital-native players such as Inalsa, Solara, Agaro, iBell and Nester. E-commerce is the engine: Amazon India says air fryers are among its fastest-growing kitchen appliances, more than doubling year on year, with roughly 90% of buyers first-time owners; one data provider tracked a 132% volume jump in Q1 2025. Falling prices accelerated adoption—entry models now start near ₹3,000 versus ₹15,000 eight years ago. Yet penetration remains in the single digits (estimates range 5–15%), which Kearney's Shashank Goel likens to the "mixie moment" of the 1970s. For B2B buyers and OEM/ODM partners, India is arguably the largest greenfield air fryer market in Asia: intensely price-sensitive, e-commerce-led, and increasingly served by local SKD/CKD assembly that still depends on imported motors, heating elements and control boards from Chinese supply chains.
